End of January, end of the detox!
WOOOOOOO!
I made it through the month. I’m ignoring the technicality that today is Jan 29 and therefore not officially the end of the month.
My reasons for doing this detox (as written be me at the beginning of the month) were:
1. I genuinely want to eat good, wholesome food.
2. I have been too lazy to break my bad food habits alone.
3. I want to break my addiction to sugar.
4. I want more fruits, vegetables, and fiber in my diet.
5. I want to take a more active, conscious role in choosing and preparing the food I eat.
I have succeeded in all of them.
Completed 1867 Ball Gown
This is a ball gown from the House of Worth dated 1867. Though Charles Frederick Worth was English by birth, his work took place in Paris, making the gown French. I’ve been working on the drawing on and off for a couple of weeks now. I was attracted to it by the ruffles around the bottom. I love looking at ruffles, but often feel hesitant about drawing them. It’s a lot of work. The first stage was pencils, then an ink outline.
iPod sketches
I have been playing with these on and off. It is near impossible to get detail on them or to see where your next line will go in relation to previous lines, but they are fun nonetheless.
Achievement unlocked: wristwarmers!

I had to learn how to bind off, add a stitch mid-row, and cast on mid-row. This is the leftover wool from a hat I made my nephew when he was a baby.

Brightly coloured mismatched socks. And one of them is INSIDE-OUT!!!
Learning is exciting
Sometimes, when I am reading or learning something exciting, I want the ability to consume the entire idea immediately.

Last week, I finally got back to work on a project that has been postponed for several months. I was doing some research for it, and could barely contain my eagerness to Just Get Started Already, Dammit. I like a lot of the work I do, but this one makes me really excited, and caused me to start thinking about things that I feel passionately about.
I was invited to talk at a tech conference in April. I plan on talking about, if not this project, the ideas I have that pertain to it. I love having an opinion, and sharing my opinion*, so this speaking engagement should be fun.

Pasta with the morels my sister sent me as a gift. I thought of her the whole time I was making it.
