I was excited when I spotted this recipe over on Treehugger. We get 2 lb of potatoes in our weekly CSA, so any way to use them instead of flour is quite welcome, and I love quiche, but making, chilling, resting, rolling, and pre-baking a crust can require a fair bit of planning ahead, and time.

I used a similar technique to this one sweetdomesticity.blogspot.com/2012/03/recycled.html , but used fewer layers. Since we don’t get a newspaper, I picked up some flyers that were littering the parking lot of our grocery store. Green bonus points!
Candied citrus
My friend Eric posted about making candied Buddha’s hand citron, and the trials of using a cheap candy thermometer. I offered the use of my digital thermometer in exchange for the burden of my company. And that’s how it came to pass that Eric taught me how to make candied cumquats and Meyer lemons, play backgammon, and use his DSLR.
P.S. – I forgot to bring my thermometer, so we instead calibrated Eric’s by measuring the temperature of boiling water. It was indeed incorrect.

Blood Orange Cranberry Muffins
I wanted comfort food.
I had bought 2lb of blood oranges as a rare citrus splurge.
I knew there was recipe for cranberry orange quick bread in the Joy of Cooking, but it was damn near impossible to find it in the new version. Quick breads are not in the index. It wasn’t under orange. There’s no muffins section.
I eventually found it hidden in the breads section.
Socks in progress

Toe-up two at a time socks on magic loop. I have about an inch to go before I start increasing for the heel.
I’m roughly following this pattern that came with the yarn, but backwards.
